Logo Design - Hockey

For this project, I was asked to design a new logo for a women's hockey team. To start, I was given a reference image of the current jersey, which was grey with a simple logo of a "She-Devil" with a hockey stick. Right away, I wanted to create a logo that looked menacing/frightening rather than having a simpler logo. For the colours, I was initially leaning towards using the NHL team New Jersey Devils' colour palette, but quickly pivoted away from that because other teams in this league use red for their logos and jerseys. I decided to use Purple because, when thinking of a "Hell" or a "Devil," the colours I think of are reds, purples, and blues, and since purple was a colour not used by any other team in this league, I went with that. To complement purple, choosing yellow was easy, as it provides a strong contrast. This was a fun project to work on, as I was able to design and iterate freely with very few restrictions, resulting in many iterations for the client to choose from. I'm happy to say that they loved the logo and are in the process of getting jerseys made for their team.
