Critical Design
For this project, we were tasked to invoke critical thinking through design. Instead of using words to critique industries and products, we were challenged to use design as our voice. Therefore, we decided to create a luxury matchbox product by using the branding of luxury brands. The critical thinking we aimed to provoke through this design was to make the audience aware of how many clothes these luxurious brands burn. Rather than offering the extra clothing they produce to second-hand sellers, these brands instead choose to burn the extra clothes, creating a large carbon footprint while also showing their greed.
